At the Small Animal Clinic of the Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine at the University of Bern, positions for a
Specialty Internship in the field of Anesthesia and Emergency/Critical Care Medicine (m/f/d)
will be available starting January 2025.
Training Objectives and Responsibilities
• 12-month Specialty Internship in Small Animal Anesthesia and Emergency/Critical Care Medicine.
• Management of emergency patients and intensive care unit patients under the supervision of specialists in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine (1 Diplomate ECVECC, 1 Diplomate ACVECC/ECVECC).
• Management of anesthesia under the supervision of specialists in Anesthesia and Analgesia (7 Diplomates ECVAA, 1 Diplomate ACVAA).
• Regular active participation in continuing education within the Emergency and Critical Care Medicine as well as Anesthesia departments (Book Club/Journal Club/Seminars).
• Night, weekend, and holiday shifts (Intensive Care Unit and Anesthesia under supervision).
Requirements
• A completed degree in Veterinary Medicine with a Swiss diploma or a diploma recognized by the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG), ideally as a recent graduate.
• Enthusiasm for working in a large, international team.
• A specific interest in Emergency/Critical Care Medicine and Anesthesia and an appreciation for challenging situations.
• Strong communication skills.
• A desire to learn how to work independently and responsibly in the fields of Emergency/Critical Care Medicine and Anesthesia, with a keen interest in learning new things.
• Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken), with additional proficiency in German and/or French being an advantage.
